Committee
Four Committees will be formed under the Council of the HKAN to out different functions for Academy:
- Registration Committee
- to assess applications for Specialist Register and to recommend approval or refusal of these applications;
- to assess applications for recertification into Specialist Register and to recommend approval or refusal of these applications;
- to assess applications for restoration of names to the Specialist Register and to recommend approval or refusal of these applications;
- to assess applications for removal of names to the Specialist Register and to recommend approval or refusal of these applications;
- to consider issues of the specialist practising certificate.
- Accreditation Committee
- to recommend to the Council, upon the recommendation of the Academy Colleges, the qualification, experience and any other attributes that qualify a registered nurse to have his/her name included in the Specialist Register under a particular specialty determined by the College;
- to make policy recommendations to the Council in respect of the standard of specialist nursing practice and education;
- to make policy recommendations to the Council on the assessment methods for examinations for Specialist Register;
- to accredit nursing specialist education institutes and education programme and recommend to the Council;
- to recommend to the Council the procedures, documentations and fees payable for including the name of a registered nurse in the Specialist Register; and
- to keep under review the existing specialist education curriculum and examination process, and to make recommendations to the Council for improvements when necessary.
- Professional Development Committee
- to advise the Council on the delineation of the domain of specialist nursing practice;
- to recommend to the Council the Code of Professional Conduct for specialist nursing practice in accordance with international standard;
- to advise the Council on the development trends in specialist nursing practice and education;
- to advise the Council on the continuing education needs of nursing specialists and to organise courses/programmes for continuing specialist nursing education; and
- to recommend to the Council on strategies to cope with future developments including the delivery and development of the health care services.
- Preliminary Investigation Committee
- to make preliminary investigations into complaints or information relating to the suitability of a registered nurse to have his/her name included in, or removed from, the Specialist Register; and
- having investigated into the complaint/information, to make recommendations to the Council for the holding of an inquiry under the Ordinance.
The Council may from time to time establish other committees and to determine the compositions, functions and duration of such committees.
